This site is powered by the Gibson Content Engine.
It's written using PHP 5/XHTML 1, with a goal of providing consistent formatting and correct markup throughout, with a simplistic design and implementation. MySQL is used as the data backend, though it should reasonably work with any compliant SQL server.
(PHPNuke it is not, but it sure beats hand-coding.)
Validation is an important step in web design, as it assures the engine will require a minimum of upkeep, and should handle future upgrades in web standards gracefully. The Gibson Content Engine validates correctly for XHTML Transitional 1.0 and CSS 2.
The quotes you see displayed in the site masthead are derived from The Debian Linux Fortune Cookie program which is released as GPL. All other code was written from scratch in Crimson Editor and JED. |
